Choir - Beginning
Instructor: GERBER
The Hill Country Middle School Beginning Choir is made up of over 180 singers. The boys and girls in this class are mostly new to choral singing and learn the basics of this art form through choral and solo performances, theory training, sight- reading, choreography, optional private voice lessons, and concert etiquette.

Singers from the Beginning Choir have earned a reputation for excellence and have been invited to sing in larger musical events in the Austin area. In April 2008, Beginning Choir singers performed the Children's Chorus part in Carl Orff's Carmina Burana with the University of Texas Choral Arts Society and Wind Ensemble. In November 2008, they were invited by composer Arthur Lipner to perform his composition titled Mallet Fantasia at the Percussive Arts Socitey International Convention.

The HCMS Beginning Choir presents over five concerts and competes in one important event during the school year. This competition is a singing festival out of town. In the Spring of 2010, our Beginning Choir will travel to San Antonio for their competition.

Our 2009-2010 Beginning Choir proudly brought home Superior ratings in their competition from all three of the judges, earning them a Sweepstakes trophy and a Best in Class trohpy.
